These Football Cocoa Krispy Treats are the perfect game-day snack. They’re fun to make, easy to eat with one hand, and don’t leave crumbs all over the couch—making them ideal for Super Bowl watching. Plus, they’re a great project to do with kids, so everyone can get involved in the kitchen.
You can skip the laces part if you’re looking for a quicker version; the football-shaped treats still look cute without them. If you’re up for the full effect, you can decorate with either white fondant or white icing. And if you're looking for a dairy-free option, simply swap in vegan butter.
The recipe uses organic cocoa krispies like Nature’s Path Chocolate Koala Crisps, but feel free to grab whatever brand you prefer.
Football Cocoa Krispy Treats
Yield: 12 servings
Ingredients:
- 5 cups Cocoa Krispies
- 1/2 cup crushed Cocoa Krispies
- 10 oz marshmallows (1 bag)
- 3 tablespoons butter (use vegan butter for dairy-free)
- Nonstick cooking spray
- White fondant or white icing in a tube
Instructions:
-
Melt the Butter: In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the marshmallows and stir until completely smooth. Remove from heat.
-
Mix in the Cocoa Krispies: Add 5 cups of Cocoa Krispies to the marshmallow mixture, stirring until all the cereal is coated.
-
Prepare the Crumbs: Take the reserved 1/2 cup of Cocoa Krispies and crush them in a mini food processor or by hand in a Ziplock bag using a rolling pin. Set aside on a plate.
-
Shape the Footballs: Spray your hands with nonstick cooking spray (rub your hands together to coat them evenly). Take about 3/4 cup of the Cocoa Krispy mixture and shape it into a football. Flatten the bottom slightly by pressing it on the counter, then roll the top in the crushed Cocoa Krispies for a smoother surface. Repeat until all the mixture is used up—this should make 10-12 footballs, depending on size.
-
Decorate the Footballs: Place the footballs on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.
-
If using fondant: Roll out the white fondant between two sheets of parchment paper to about 1/8 inch thick. Use a pizza cutter to cut 12 long strips and 48 small strips for the laces. Wet the underside of the fondant with a little water to help it stick to the treats.
-
If using icing: Pipe a straight line down the middle of each football. Once the frosting dries a little, pipe short lines across the center line to create the "laces." Use a knife or toothpick to tidy up any uneven edges.
-
-
Let Them Set: Allow the fondant or frosting to dry before serving. You can make these up to a day in advance.
These Football Cocoa Krispy Treats are sure to be a crowd favorite at your Super Bowl celebration. They’re easy to make, fun to eat, and even more fun to share!
